Amanda Zelina es The Coppertone.

Le dijeron una vez a Zelina, mientras tocaba con el icono del Blues Billy Gibbons de la banda ZZTOP en un añejo depósito de guitarras local en Hollywood California “… tocas la guitarra de forma magnífica, lo lograrás… te veré de nuevo algún día, estoy seguro de esto.” Con una risa, Amanda explica, “Haya sido honesto o no, o simplemente tratando de afectarme, no importa, la casualidad es algo en lo que no creo, confiar es algo primario en mi.” Y con esta mentalidad nació “The Coppertone”.

Esta es la historia…

Al despertarse en la décima mañana de un sueño atormentador que se repite, Zelina sabía que el álbum estaba camino... En él, ella estaba cara a cara con un Toro; una criatura que exuda la fuerza, la confianza, la fuerza, y quizás el peligro. En el sueño ella fue matada por el toro y volvió como una reencarnación del animal ... mirando a través de sus ojos.

El dúo está formado por Zelina y Nick Skalkos de la banda "Spírits". Pero está unido por el tercer miembro secreto de la cinta, Marcone. "Es gracioso porque somos siempre un Dúo, en el estudio con Nick o sobre el camino con Miguel, pero realmente hay tres de nosotros. "

"Este no es un registro de blues tradicional lleno de guitarras limpias.... mis influencias son de tipos como Mississippi Fred Mcdowell, Junior Kimborogh, John Lee Hooker… los hombres de blues que usaron sus dedos para cavar en las cuerdas; quienes sostuvieron una nota no porque debía hacerse técnicamente sino porque se sintió bien... El blues para mí no es restrictivo es una fuerza espiritual, un sentimiento más que una estructura de acordes. Esta grabación es mi interpretación del blues. "

Con una voz que aúlla, con guitarras distorsionadas, tambores primitivos y lírica que está empapada en el alma, The Coppertone es un excitante y refrescante nueva cara del blues contemporáneo.

Zelina was once told while jamming with Blues Icon Billy Gibbons of the band ZZTOP at a local vintage guitar store in Hollywood California " ...You play that guitar mighty fine, you're going to make it...I'll see you again someday I'm sure of it." With a laugh, Amanda explains, "Whether or not he was being honest or simply trying to hit on me didn't matter. happenstance is something I don't believe in. trusting my gut is." and with that mentality "The Coppertone" was born.

The story is this....

Awaking the tenth morning from a haunting recurring dream Zelina knew an album was on the way... In it, she was face to face with a Bull; a creature that exudes strength, confidence, force, and perhaps danger. In the dream she was killed by the bull and than came-to as a reincarnation of the animal...seeing through it's eyes.

A duo comprised of Zelina and Nick Skalkos of the band " Spirits". Live she is joined by the secret third member of the band, Marcone on fuzzed out keyboard bass/ all-around-human-percussion-monster and a back track that triggers Skalkos's Boom Boom-ey analog recorded drums." It's funny because we are always a Duo, in the studio with Nick or on the road with Mike, but really there is three of us."

"This is not a traditional blues record filled with straight up 12 bars and clean guitars....my influences are from guys like Mississippi Fred Mcdowell, Junior Kimborogh, John Lee Hooker, Son house... blues men who used their fingers to dig into the strings; who held a note for eight bars more than they technically should because it felt right... The blues to me is non restrictive..its a spiritual force, a feeling more than a chord structure. This record is my interpretation of the blues."

With a voice that howls, unapologetic moody fuzzed out guitars, primal drums and lyrics that are soaked in soul The Coppertone is an exciting and refreshing new face to contemporary blues.
